New Patient Tower Opening

Over the course of four decades, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has seen the population of the Santa Clarita Valley grow larger while also growing older. As a result, the need for expanded healthcare services has dramatically increased, which in turn has driven a need for expanded facilities at Henry Mayo.

A plan to add 160,000 square feet to the hospital campus for outpatient care has been in the works for nearly 10 years. A major component of this expansion is the patient tower—a six-level structure with a rooftop helipad—which will have 120 new private patient rooms.

Three of the floors in the tower will be dedicated to medical-surgical care. The rooms include desired amenities (such as built-in cellphone chargers) and sleepover accommodations for family members. A new cafeteria, with an outdoor dining area, will also open in the tower.

Henry Mayo’s new Center for Women and Newborns will be located on the second level and will offer 22 private pre-and postpartum rooms, along with seven labor and delivery rooms. The center will also have two dedicated surgical suites for cesarean sections, and an Obstetrics Emergency Department will open there in the coming months.
The new tower will be opening sometime during spring/summer of 2019. The next time you drive by campus, see for yourself how construction is progressing as Henry Mayo continues to build for your health! IYH
